71 degrees, with good water clarity across most of the bay system.
Speckled Trout, Redfish & Flounder Update
This week, we focused on shell beds in 2 to 3 feet of water and found good numbers of
speckled trout, along with a few redfish and flounder.
When you catch a fish, it’s important to stop and work the area. We’ve been catching multiple fish in the same spot
by anchoring down and fan casting the entire area.
Bait activity remains key when fishing East Galveston Bay. If you don’t see bait or signs of life,
make a few casts and move on. The most productive areas have been where bait is present, as fish are usually close by.
Best Lures and Techniques
Anglers are having success using WacAttack straight tails in Rollover Moon and
Deadly Dudley Rat Tails on various jig head sizes depending on wind conditions.
Imitation shrimp lures fished under a Fish Smack popping cork with a
1- to 2-foot leader have also been producing steady bites.
While bait activity has been slightly lower than previous weeks, whenever bait has been located,
fish have been nearby and actively feeding.
