East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Speckled Trout and Sand Trout Fishing
Finding active bait continues to be one of the keys to catching fish in East Galveston Bay. Shell beds with bait working nearby have been some of our most productive areas. When we find bait, trout are usually not far away.
We’ve been catching trout using MirrOlure suspending hard baits, swimbaits, and soft plastic tails. Light-colored soft plastics rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads have been especially productive when working shell and areas holding bait.
Redfish Action in East Galveston Bay
Redfish fishing has also been producing some hard-pulling action for our clients. One of the best setups has been a popping cork with a 2-foot leader paired with Salt & Pepper WacAttack tails or Deadly Dudley Terror Tails in Blue Moon.
This setup continues to produce aggressive redfish bites and is a great option for anglers fishing the shallow waters around East Galveston Bay and the Bolivar Peninsula.
Early Morning Topwater Fishing
The topwater bite on East Galveston Bay remains good during our early morning fishing trips. Anglers who enjoy throwing walking topwater baits should take advantage of the cooler morning hours before the sun gets high.
Early mornings can provide exciting surface strikes from trout and redfish, making this a great time to have a topwater bait rigged and ready.
