East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay are around 84 degrees.

This week, we spent most of our time fishing open-water reefs throughout the bay, and the pattern produced
speckled trout, redfish, and sand trout.

Speckled Trout Fishing on East Galveston Bay Reefs

Open-water reefs continue to be productive for trout. We’ve been using soft-body swimbaits and paddle tails
in lighter colors rigged on 1/4-ounce jig heads. These baits have been working well when targeting
fish around deeper shell and reef structure.

Redfish Bite Remains Strong

Our clients are also having excellent success catching redfish in East Galveston Bay.
One of the best setups has been a popping cork with a 2-foot leader, paired with Salt & Pepper
WacAttack tails or Deadly Dudley Terror Tails in Blue Moon.

This setup has produced some hard-pulling redfish on reefs in approximately 5 to 8 feet of water.
We’ve also caught a good number of slot redfish in extremely shallow water using wake baits around structure and
along wind-blown shorelines when conditions are right.

Early Morning Topwater Fishing

The topwater bite continues to be good during our early morning fishing trips. If you enjoy throwing
walking topwater baits, the hours around sunrise are a great time to target trout and redfish before the sun gets
higher and temperatures begin to climb.

Fall Fishing in Crystal Beach, Texas

The summer crowds have started to thin out, making this a great time to enjoy fall fishing on East Galveston Bay.
On some days, we’re seeing only a few other boats on the water.

With fewer anglers and plenty of fishing opportunities, now is a great time to plan a
fall or winter fishing trip to Crystal Beach, Texas. East Galveston Bay offers excellent opportunities
for speckled trout, redfish, and other inshore species while enjoying the outdoors along the
Upper Texas Coast.
