Galveston Bay Fishing Report Week Ending 10/6/2026

East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are around
83 degrees. This week, most of our fishing has focused on targeting
slot redfish in the marsh, and the results have been good.

Redfish Fishing in the East Galveston Bay Marsh

Higher morning tides have allowed us to reach shallow marsh areas that are normally difficult to fish.
Taking advantage of the extra water has paid off, with good numbers of redfish being caught in these
backwater areas.

Light-colored paddle tails rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads have been producing bites.
Depending on the amount of grass and where the fish are holding, we are also rigging these soft plastics
weedless. In areas with heavier shell, fishing under a popping cork with a 12-inch leader
has been an effective setup.

Where to Find Redfish

Some of the most productive areas have been around rocks, grass lines, marsh drains, and
windblown points
. When conditions line up, these areas can concentrate bait and provide excellent
opportunities for feeding redfish.

We have also found a few bull redfish pushing shrimp along the grass lines. Keep an eye
out for active shrimp and other bait along the shoreline, as it can be a good sign that larger redfish
are nearby.

Speckled Trout and Sand Trout Update

We’ve also had some good days catching speckled trout and sand trout on East Galveston Bay
reefs
. Recent winds have made it difficult to consistently fish these areas, but when conditions
allow access to the reefs, the trout bite has been productive.

Fall Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast

With summer crowds beginning to thin and conditions improving, this is a great time to enjoy
fall fishing on the Upper Texas Coast. Redfish are active in the marsh, trout are available
on the reefs, and cooler weather will continue to improve fishing opportunities around
Crystal Beach, Bolivar Peninsula, and East Galveston Bay.

Now is a great time to plan a fall or winter fishing trip to Crystal Beach, Texas and
enjoy everything the Upper Texas Coast has to offer.
