East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are around
86 degrees. We are spending much of our time fishing shell beds in
2 to 3 feet of water, especially in areas where we can find active bait.
When conditions line up, these areas are producing good numbers of
speckled trout and sand trout.

Speckled Trout and Sand Trout Fishing

Finding active bait continues to be an important part of locating fish in East Galveston Bay.
We have been using MirrOlure suspending hard baits, soft-body swimbaits, and soft plastic tails
rigged on 1/4-ounce jig heads. Light-colored artificial lures have been working well
throughout much of the bay system.

Redfish Action on East Galveston Bay Reefs

Redfish fishing in East Galveston Bay has also been producing some exciting action.
Our clients are having excellent success using popping corks with approximately a
2-foot leader. Salt & Pepper tails from WacAttack and Deadly Dudley Terror Tails
in Blue Moon have been producing hard strikes and strong redfish.

Many of these redfish are being caught around reefs in approximately
5 to 8 feet of water. When you locate bait around these deeper reefs, there is a good
chance redfish are nearby.

Early Morning Topwater Fishing

The topwater bite continues to be good during our early morning fishing trips.
If you enjoy throwing walking topwater baits, get them in the water before the sun gets high.
Early morning remains one of the best times to take advantage of topwater action during the warmer
summer conditions.

Fall and Winter Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast

Summer crowds on the Bolivar Peninsula are beginning to thin out, making this a great time to start
planning a fall or winter fishing trip to Crystal Beach, Texas. As the seasons change,
East Galveston Bay continues to offer excellent opportunities for trout, redfish, and other popular
inshore species.

If you’re ready to enjoy the outdoors and experience some of the
best fishing on the Upper Texas Coast, now is a great time to plan your next trip.

Until next time,
