East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach Texas

East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Fishing on East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas has been productive this week, with surface water temperatures holding around 62 degrees and very low tides continuing across Bolivar Peninsula. Water clarity remains average throughout the bay, with the best clarity found in protected marsh areas shielded from recent winds, creating excellent conditions for targeting speckled trout and redfish.

Speckled trout fishing has been especially strong over the past several days. Anglers are seeing great success using pink Salt Strong F.R.E.D. “The Jerk” artificial lures. As daytime temperatures rise, trout are moving onto nearby mud flats to feed, making these shallow feeding zones key locations for consistent action. Targeting mud flats during warmer afternoon periods can significantly improve your catch rates.

Redfish fishing on East Galveston Bay has also been very good, particularly in shallow marsh areas and around marsh drains throughout Bolivar Peninsula. These shallow-water feeding zones continue to produce solid redfish bites. Imitation shrimp lures fished under popping corks with a short leader have been highly effective, along with weightless soft plastics such as Deadly Dudley Rat Tails and WacAttack Flukes.

Artificial lure anglers are also finding success using Corky lures, suspending jerk baits, slow-falling twitch baits, and walking topwater lures when conditions align. Winter and early spring fishing along the upper Texas coast often provide excellent opportunities to catch larger trout and redfish, and with fewer anglers on the water, it’s a great time to enjoy fishing trips with family and friends on Bolivar Peninsula.

Crystal Beach and East Galveston Bay continue to be top fishing destinations on the Texas Gulf Coast, offering year-round opportunities for anglers of all skill levels.
