Galveston Bay Fishing Report 10/14/2026

East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Surface water temperatures in
East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas
are around 81 degrees. This week, we focused
most of our fishing efforts on catching slot redfish in the
back marsh areas. Higher-than-normal morning tides have
allowed us to reach shallow fishing spots that are usually
difficult to access, and the results have been good.

Redfish Fishing in East Galveston Bay

Redfish fishing in the marsh around Crystal Beach
has been productive, especially in areas with rocks,
grass lines, marsh drains, and windblown points.
These areas have been holding feeding redfish when
the tides and weather conditions are right.

We have been catching redfish using light-colored
paddle tail lures rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads.
In areas with heavy grass or other obstacles, weedless
rigs have also worked well.

When fishing over shell beds, one of our most effective
setups has been a popping cork with a 12-inch
leader
and a soft plastic lure underneath.
This setup has helped produce steady redfish bites
in shallow water.

Bull Redfish Along the Marsh Grass Lines

We have also spotted and caught a few
bull redfish in East Galveston Bay.
These larger redfish have been pushing shrimp along
the marsh grass lines, creating exciting fishing
opportunities for anglers using artificial lures.

Speckled Trout and Sand Trout Fishing Update

Speckled trout and sand trout fishing
has also been good when we have been able to reach
the reefs in East Galveston Bay.
We have enjoyed several productive trips catching
trout around these areas.

However, recent strong winds have made fishing the
open bay reefs more difficult, so we have spent
more time targeting redfish in the protected marsh.
When wind conditions improve, the reefs should
provide more opportunities to target trout.

Fall and Winter Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast

With summer crowds beginning to thin out and
fishing conditions improving, now is a great time
to plan a fall or winter fishing trip to
Crystal Beach and Bolivar Peninsula
.

East Galveston Bay offers excellent opportunities
to catch redfish, speckled trout, and other
inshore saltwater species throughout the year.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or planning
a fishing trip with family and friends, there
is plenty to enjoy on the Upper Texas Coast.
