East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas

Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are holding around
84 degrees, with normal water clarity across most of the bay. Summer fishing continues to provide
excellent opportunities for anglers targeting speckled trout and redfish along the
Upper Texas Coast.

Speckled Trout Fishing Update

This week we focused on fishing shell flats and open-water reefs whenever the wind
allowed. The key to finding trout continues to be locating active bait. If you don’t see baitfish or signs of life,
it’s usually best to make a few casts and move to another area.

The most productive setup has been imitation shrimp lures and soft plastic tails fished under
popping corks with a 1- to 2-foot leader. Deadly Dudley Rat Tails and WacAttack
Flukes rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads have also been producing consistent trout throughout the week.

Redfish Report

Redfish fishing in East Galveston Bay has been best along grass lines in
1 to 24 inches of water. The most productive areas have been back lakes around
drains, points, and shoreline indentations. FishBites paddle tails have been one of the top-producing
lures for finding quality redfish in these shallow areas.

Summer Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast

Summer fishing is in full swing, and now is an excellent time to plan your
summer or fall fishing trip to Crystal Beach and East Galveston Bay. Warmer water temperatures are
keeping trout and redfish active, and the Upper Texas Coast continues to offer outstanding inshore fishing for anglers
of all experience levels.

Whether you’re looking for your first speckled trout or chasing a trophy redfish, East Galveston Bay has plenty of
opportunities to enjoy a memorable day on the water.
