East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – June 21, 2026
Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are currently around 81 degrees. Water clarity remains below normal following the recent storm, with conditions becoming murkier as you move farther north in the bay system.
This week, our focus remained on targeting speckled trout over shallow shell flats and open-water reefs whenever wind conditions allowed. As always, finding active bait is critical. If you don’t see baitfish, diving birds, or other signs of life, it’s usually best to make a few casts and move to another area.
Speckled Trout Fishing Update
The most productive trout pattern has been using imitation shrimp lures and soft plastics under Harvey Tackle popping corks with a 1- to 2-foot leader. This setup continues to produce the most consistent bites.
Other productive lures include Deadly Dudley Rat Tails and WacAttack Flukes rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads. These baits have been effective when worked over shell flats and around reef structures throughout East Galveston Bay.
Redfish Report
Redfish fishing on Bolivar Peninsula has been best in the back lakes around grass lines in water depths ranging from 12 inches to 24 inches. The most productive areas have been around drains, points, and shoreline indentations where bait is concentrated.
Anglers targeting these shallow marsh areas continue to find quality redfish feeding during favorable tidal movements.
Summer Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast
Summer fishing is in full swing along the Upper Texas Coast, and conditions should continue to improve as the bay system settles following recent weather. Now is an excellent time to plan your summer or fall fishing trip to Crystal Beach and East Galveston Bay.
Whether you’re chasing trophy speckled trout, slot redfish, or simply looking to enjoy a day on the water with family and friends, East Galveston Bay continues to offer outstanding fishing opportunities.
Until Next Time,
