East Galveston Bay Fishing Report – Crystal Beach, Texas
Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are holding around
74 degrees. Over the past several days, windy conditions have kept anglers focused on fishing
protected shorelines and areas shielded from stronger winds.
Speckled Trout Fishing Update
Speckled trout fishing on East Galveston Bay has been excellent this week. Most trout are being
caught in 1 to 3 feet of water over scattered shell and along wind-protected shorelines.
Productive artificial lures have included WacAttack straight tails in Rollover Moon,
Deadly Dudley Rat Tails, and walking topwater baits. Anglers are also catching
quality trout using imitation shrimp under a Fish Smack popping cork with a
1- to 2-foot leader.
The popping cork and shrimp setup has been the top performer for clients this week, producing some of the most
aggressive trout bites of the spring season. Most lures are being rigged on
1/4-ounce jig heads to help cover water effectively in windy conditions.
Redfish and Flounder Report
Redfish fishing in the Crystal Beach marsh has also been productive, with several slot-sized
redfish caught back in the marsh systems. Anglers are also picking up a few really nice
flounder around grass lines during higher tides.
Spring Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast
Spring fishing on the Upper Texas Coast continues to improve as warmer water temperatures and more
stable weather patterns increase fish activity across East Galveston Bay.
If you’re looking to get on the water before the busy summer season arrives, now is one of the best times to plan
a fishing trip to Crystal Beach and Bolivar Peninsula. Trout, redfish, and flounder action should
continue improving in the weeks ahead.
Whether you are an experienced angler or planning a fun family trip, East Galveston Bay is offering excellent
spring fishing opportunities right now.
