Surface water temperatures in East Galveston Bay near Crystal Beach, Texas are holding around
have lined up well for consistent inshore fishing along the Upper Texas Coast.
The speckled trout bite in East Galveston Bay has been strong. Anglers are finding success using
Salt & Pepper and chartreuse paddle tails rigged on 1/8-ounce jig heads. With higher tides than
recent weeks, fishing back lake flats near drains has been especially productive. These shallow feeding zones are
holding quality trout as water levels allow better access.
Redfish fishing in the Crystal Beach marsh has been steady, particularly around drains and shallow
backwater areas. Imitation shrimp lures and soft plastics fished under popping corks with
12- to 18-inch leaders are producing solid bites. Weightless Rat Tails and WacAttack Flukes continue
to deliver consistent redfish action.
This time of year is one of the best opportunities to target larger trout and redfish on the
Bolivar Peninsula, thanks to lighter fishing pressure and aggressive feeding patterns. If you’re
planning a trip to Crystal Beach, now is an excellent time to get on the water and enjoy a productive day of bay
fishing with family and friends.
